The collaboration between CCL and Tokyo Institute of Technology (TokyoTech) started in 2009 with student exchange and webinar collaborations. The focus of the collaboration is on waste to energy, gasification and co-combustion of wastes with coal and biomass. The main investigations explore the reaction kinetics and mechanisms involved in gasification and co-combustion processes. The main tools are a bench scale nthermogravimentric (TGA) unit, a full scale drop tube reactor (DTR) and ASPEN® Plus simulations.
